National Medicare for All Week of Action: Demand that Congress pass Medicare for All!

The US healthcare system is cruel, broken, and needlessly expensive. Insurance companies rake in billions while far too many people in America go without the health care they need. It’s time we have a system that acknowledges healthcare as a human right — and that system is Medicare for All.

Activists from all over the country are coming together in February to launch this campaign to win Medicare for All during a National Week of Action.

Join the fight for health care justice! Attend a barnstorm in your community.

What is a barnstorm?

It’s a mass organizing rally where you can learn how to get involved. See other barnstorms on the national map.

People's State of the City #GaryPSOTC

Black Lives Matter NWI - Gary and Gary Christ United Methodist Church welcome other concerned community members to join us at noon on January 26 at Gary’s main library (5th ave) for a "People's State of the City", a public forum by and for the people.

In advance of the many political speeches and platitudes coming our way this election season, we invite residents to evaluate the state of Gary and its issues for ourselves, and determine ways that current & future Gary officials can shift away from misguided policies and shift towards more transparent government. This progressive forum seeks to begin building a vision for a more equitable and inclusive Gary, from jobs and schools to the environment, the justice system, and more. Community-led and independent of politicians or candidates, this discussion will be concise but will also make space for sharing knowledge and marginalized perspectives. Show up and speak for yourself!

Protest to #StopGaryDeportations

Chicago DSA's Immigration Rights Committee and Anti-Racism Working Group are working with Northwest Indiana Resistance in organizing a protest to resist ICE, protest the deportations of wrongfully detained immigrants and refugees, and to shine a light on the system causes of the inhuman mistreatment of immigrants from Chicagoland and Gary.

“We must do anything and everything to oppose current immigration abusive practices, especially child abuse in family separations. On January 18th we are planning a protest to fight against family separation and stop deportations at the Gary-Chicago International Airport.”
